Things changed for Mary J. Blige when she released her second album, My Life. While her debut album did well, fans learned more about Blige when she dug deep into her personal life. From then on, she chronicled the steps of her life through her music.

Before the eyes of her fans, Mary J. Blige grew as a person and as an artist. Throughout the first decade of the 21st century, Mary J. Blige was the top female R&B artist. But, over the past few years, she has fallen under the shadow of artists like Ciara, Keyshia Cole, and Keri Hilson.

Earlier this year, Lil' Kim said Mary J. Blige was ready to regain her position in the game. Kim said Blige was upset with how Keyshia Cole had taken her style. While Lil' Kim would focus on going after Nicki Minaj, she said Mary J. Blige was going to go after Keyshia Cole. The major beef has yet to happen, but Mary J. Blige is trying to regain her spot.

Over the past nineteen years, the people have watched Mary J. Blige grow up from being a little girl, lost in the game, to becoming a confident woman in control. However, she still goes through the ups and downs of life. Recently, she decided it was time to put together another album to update fans and to regain her spot, at least one more time. The result of this will be her latest album, My Life II. She has already released the first single from the album, "Someone to Love Me," which features Lil Wayne and Diddy.
