About
JR, The Black Entertainment Guide was initially founded in New York City as a print magazine in 2001. The early days of JR were a struggle, as the magazine focused on independent movers and shakers in the entertainment industry. It was difficult to land both subscribers and advertisers for the magazine. From 2001 until 2009, JR magazine floundered.
During the fall of 2009, a plan was laid to transform JR into one of the top black entertainment magazines, but the plan soon changed. Realizing the difficulty in running a print magazine, TBT Entertainment Group changed the focus of JR and moved it to an online publication. Quickly, JR became popular on the internet before going defunct late in 2009.
In March 2010, JR, The Black Entertainment Guide was officially launched and it has been just that for the past year. JR has a strong international following with traffic increasing each day. The online magazine serves as the official news source for many people around the world. Expect JR to continue to provide the latest in black entertainment, served in a professional manner.
