Kim Kardashian discusses Ray J, Reggie Bush, and the Sextape

In the fall of 2006, Kim Kardashian went from being the girlfriend of Ray J to becoming a major celebrity. Within a matter of months, she found herself with a reality show. Fast forward four years and some months later, she is recording her own album and spending time with Kanye West.

Even Kim Kardashian would agree she owes much of this success to the leaked sextape with Ray J. During her time with the singer, the two filmed a sextape. Ray J and Kardashian had been together for over a year. But, the two broke up over the summer in 2006.

Following their breakup, the sextape leaked to the public. It was not long before Kim Kardashian was the hottest topic on both the internet and television. The sextape leak was the topic of an episode of her reality show, "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." Most of the blame was placed on Ray J during the episode.

When talking about the sextape leak, Kim Kardashian said it was the roughest time in her life. She had just started dating New Orleans Saints running back, Reggie Bush, getting over Ray J. Honestly, she felt as if her relationship with Bush was over after the tape came out. Surprisingly, he stayed with her and helped her through the negative publicity. While the two are no longer dating, Kim Kardashian thanked him for being there for her during her time of need.

Initially, many assumed Ray J was behind the sextape leaking. At the time, Ray J had not released a new album in a year and needed some sort of cash flow. Kim Kardashian's body, alone, helped the sextape sell copies. But, after looking at what the tape did for her career as opposed to Ray J's career, speculation began that Kardashian and her family were behind the sextape leak. As it currently stands, Kim Kardashian is a bigger star than Ray J and likely making more money.

Recently, Kim Kardashian hit back at those who assume she is behind the sextape leak. She stated it was the lowest point in her life when her younger siblings learned of what she had did. Kim had to face family and friends, who all knew about the sextape. Despite the profits it made and what it did for her career, much embarrassment came with the sextape being revealed to the public. Because of all of that, Kim Kardashian did not want the sextape to be released and had no part of its release.
