When Diddy first launched Bad Boy, he had yet to even name himself Puff Daddy. Late in the 1980s, he had started working with local rap artists. In 1989, he put together a concert for Heavy D and it nearly cost him his reputation.

Soon, Sean Combs landed an internship with Uptown Records. Before long, Sean "Puffy" Combs found himself an executive vice president at the company. In only a matter of months, however, he had been fired from the job.

After leaving Uptown, Bad Boy Records was launched to go along with Bad Boy Management. To encompass the two ventures, Combs created the blanket company, Bad Boy Entertainment Worldwide and he has expanded the company over the years. In only four years, Bad Boy Records had revived East Coast hip hop.

Fast-forward eighteen years later and Bad Boy Entertainment Worldwide is one of the most-profitable businesses in the United States. The company includes clothing, Sean John and Enyce, restaurants, with several Justin's locations, record labels, the Bad Boy Records Group, and many other side ventures. Outside of the names, Bad Boy Entertainment Worldwide makes a profit of over $300 million each year. Recently, the company was noted for all of the accomplishments.

Recently, Diddy received an award for having one of the largest minority-owned businesses in New York. He credited hard work and determination to all of his success over the years. The Bad Boy company was listed as one of the top three minority owned businesses in New York City. It is an incredible honor for Combs, as he always dreamed of making history, such as this.
