"Southland" has defied the odds and is currently back for a third season, second with TBT. After a few episodes on NBC, the struggling network cancelled the show. Initially, Regina King was happy, mainly to be back with NBC. But, after they cancelled her show, she lost the respect she had for the network.

Regina King, along with fans of "Southland," protested to keep the show on the air. TNT picked up the syndication rights of the program and began airing the show immediately. They also finished airing the episodes to complete the season. NBC cancelled the show midseason without showing all of the episodes.

Quickly, "Southland" became the highest-rated show on TNT and they contacted the production company. From there, a second season of the show was greenlighted. Regina King is very happy to be dealing with a network interested in the show. Since things are so secure, she has pitched the idea of having the show go deeper into her character's personal life.

Filming for the third season began last month and the third season will begin broadcasting later this week.
