Ashanti prepares her New Album

It has been two years since Ashanti last released an album and it has been six years since she last released an album while happy with her label. Ever since 2006, a silent struggle has been going on between Ashanti and Irv Gotti. During the summer of 2007, he made things very public when he announced that he had been sleeping with Ashanti for seven years. His comments put her relationship with Nelly at risk and she had enough.

Ashanti named her last album The Declaration because she was declaring herself free from all that was going on at Murder Inc. Records. Her decision led to Ja Rule dissing her on his 2008 single, “Judas.” Despite his diss record, Rule said that Ashanti will always be his sister and he will always be there for her. When she performed on “Good Morning America” in June 2008, he lived up to his word and performed with her.

Their public appearance signaled the official end of their feud. Now, with Rule working on his first album in six years and Ashanti back in the studio, they have reunion on their mind. While it was said by Irv Gotti, himself, that Ashanti is off of Murder Inc., it has still to be discovered if she is actually off of the label. What has been clear is that Ashanti has a new album on the way and it will be released this year.

While there has not been a release date set for the album, Ashanti said to expect the album to come out before the end of 2010. Even if she is still on Murder Inc., Irv Gotti will not be giving her a hard time when it comes to releasing this album. After all, the last time that he had a hit, it came from Ashanti. Despite his personal feelings about Ashanti, he realizes that she is a hit-maker regardless of the situation.
