Thursday, April 8, 2010
No one predicted that DMX would fall out of the spotlight the way that he did. He emerged in the rap game at a time when everyone felt that it had gone soft. When people were seemingly ready to convert rap over to R&B, DMX came and breathed new life into the genre. Following the release of his fifth album, X retired from the game only to return cracked out.
While the public did not see his fall, his wife, Tashera Simmons, did and she stuck by him. Last month, she revealed that she was writing a book about her life with DMX. Despite the rumors, she insists that it will not be a tell-all. Simmons feels that DMX left out key parts of their life in the book that he wrote. She simply wants to get the facts straight.
After being with DMX before the money, the fame, and the drugs, Tashera has seen enough. She is tired of everything that X has put himself and the family through. Following the release of her book, she plans to begin filing for divorce from her husband. In 2007, during an episode of "Gotti's Way," Tashera revealed to Deb Lorenzo, the wife of Irv Gotti, that her marriage with DMX was falling apart. However, just last year, she and DMX made their only public appearance of 2009 at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors.
