Mary J. Blige discusses Childhood Struggles on "Behind the Music"

Before becoming the positive voice she is now, Mary J. Blige was a very dark person. This darkness was reflected in her early music. It has only been ten years since she broke through with her No More Drama album. Now, ten years of the light, she is recounting her struggles.

Mary J. Blige's background has never been a secret to the fans. On her debut album, she told the world about her horrible childhood. As a child, Mary J. Blige was sexually abused and it messed with her self-esteem. Mary J. Blige said the abuse followed her throughout her life.

In 2001, Mary J. Blige broke through with No More Drama, but this came after much hardache. Blige had become a hardcore alcoholic. Her addiction had taken her over and it was reflected in her music. However, things turned for the worse when she nearly lost her life, due to her addiction.

Mary J. Blige gives the credit of her recovery to her husband, Kendu Isaacs. On July 24, 2011, the entire story of Mary J. Blige will be told on VH1's "Behind the Music."

Missy Elliott recruits Timbaland and Pharrell for New Album

For the past couple of years, many people have wondered what happened to Missy Elliott. The last time Missy released a solo album was 2005's The Cookbook. However, in 2008, Missy Elliott began promoting her next album, Block Party. But, for unknown reasons, the album was never released.

Missy Elliott soon stopped promoting her 2008 album and was again forgotten. Recently, it was revealed that Missy Elliott was actually going through a health crisis. Again preparing to put together a comeback run, Missy Elliott made an appearance on VH1's series, "Behind the Music."

Only days after appearing on "Behind the Music," Missy Elliott is back in the news. Working on new music, Missy Elliott decided to team up with old friends. During the 1990s, Missy rose to fame with her multiple collaborations with Timbaland. Going back to what worked, Missy Elliott recruited Timbaland for her new album.

Aside from Timbaland, Missy Elliott also has Pharrell providing production work for the new album.

Usher gives insight on Chilli break up

Years of rumors were confirmed by R&B superstar, Usher, when he made his appearance on VH1's "Behind the Music." In the late 1990s, Usher began dating TLC singer, Chilli. The two were one of the cuter young couples of the early 2000s. Some compared them to the black version of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.

Much like their white counterparts, the two were done with each other before 2005. Because the two looked so good together, fans were dismayed when they broke up. Rumors began of Usher cheating on Chilli. Over the years, this is something Usher never opened up about.

Recently, Chilli has been more open to talk about their relationship, but she never spoke of Usher's infidelity. But, in his VH1 documentary, Usher revealed the reason they broke up. His frequent cheating, along with past relationships, never gave their relationship a fighting chance. Usher justifies his actions by stating he wanted to build a family and Chilli did not.

The couple remains great friends and they often give each other relationship advice.
