Usher gives insight on Chilli break up

Tuesday, July 20, 2010

Years of rumors were confirmed by R&B superstar, Usher, when he made his appearance on VH1's "Behind the Music." In the late 1990s, Usher began dating TLC singer, Chilli. The two were one of the cuter young couples of the early 2000s. Some compared them to the black version of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake.

Much like their white counterparts, the two were done with each other before 2005. Because the two looked so good together, fans were dismayed when they broke up. Rumors began of Usher cheating on Chilli. Over the years, this is something Usher never opened up about.

Recently, Chilli has been more open to talk about their relationship, but she never spoke of Usher's infidelity. But, in his VH1 documentary, Usher revealed the reason they broke up. His frequent cheating, along with past relationships, never gave their relationship a fighting chance. Usher justifies his actions by stating he wanted to build a family and Chilli did not.

The couple remains great friends and they often give each other relationship advice.

Chill still wants Usher

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

In the late 1990s, Chilli began dating Usher and they became the teen "it couple" of black America. Some people saw them as the black version of Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. Despite Chilli being well into her twenties when she began dating Usher, many saw them as a teen couple. Both had been child stars, but when they got older, they grew apart.

By 2004, Chilli and Usher wanted different things. She was ready to settle down and start a family. Usher, on the other hand, still wanted to party and have a good time. On top of everything else, he was trying to change his image. Usher had been known as a "horny teenager," but he was ready to become a grown man. This, along with the work he was putting in for Confessions ended his relationship with Chilli.

For the past six years, Chilli has been out of the spotlight. She has causually dated a few men, but nothing serious. Last month, Chilli came out of hiding and decided she wanted a man. VH1 heard her loud and clear and they set up another dating reality series. But, it is not one along the lines of "Flavor of Love." This time around, Chilli has remained at her home and she and friend, Tionna Smalls, go out searching for men. In the past, Chilli has settled for men, but she wants things her way this time around.

Each episode consists of Chill reading out a long list of the perfect man to Smalls. Repeatedly, Smalls tells her she is too demanding. There have been times when it appeared as if she would end up with Floyd Mayweather and T.J. Holmes, but for one reason or another, they did not end up with each other. Despite her constant complaining about being single, Chilli turns down every man who comes her way. When she broke up with Usher, she left the door open to re-starting their relationship. At the time, they were in two different places in their lives. She always hoped one day they could get back together.

When Chilli first began filming "What Chill Wants," Usher was happily married with two children. Now, he is a happily divorced man with two children. The only thing Chilli sees is single, so she may be sabotaging her chances at love out of hope of reuniting with Usher. As far as the people know, he is not slated to appear on her show. So, after she goes back home without love, there is a possibility of Chill trying to get back with her ex, Usher.

Chilli, of TLC, goes to VH1 in Search of Love

Saturday, March 6, 2010

Apparently, VH1 is not done with the reality dating shows that they have become famous for. Last summer, a contestant on "Megan wants a Millionaire" was charged for murder and he committed suicide. Not only did VH1 pull the show from their schedule, but they also pulled the third season of "I Love Money." Following those series of events, the network said that it was going to cut back on those types of reality shows.

But, after the success of "For The Love of Ray J 2," VH1 decided to stick with what works. The most-recent heartbroken star that they are working with is Chilli. She has experience in reality television. In 2005, she, along with group-mate, T-Boz hosted a competition-based reality series on UPN that searched for a new third member of TLC. Chilli will be taking that experience with her into her new show.

Aside from her music career with TLC, Chilli is probably best-known for dating R&B star, Usher. Recently, he has been going through some relationship troubles of his own. He divorced his wife of two years, Tameka Foster, last year and the divorce was the inspiration for his album, Raymond v. Raymond. Despite her ex being single, Chilli does not plan on reuniting with him. Instead, she has taken to VH1 to have them give her a mansion full of 20 new men for her to choose from. This season, Chilli will be receiving relationship advice from her good friends, T-Boz and Missy Elliott.

The new show, "What Chilli Wants," will hit VH1 on April 11, 2010 at 10:00 pm.
