Rapper Game talks "Red Nation" and His Sons

Tuesday, May 24, 2011

By Mr. Hollywood
JR Staff Writer

Throughout his career, Game has made it clear he is an active member of the Bloods gang. His gang affiliation made his Canada return less than favorable earlier this month. Still, Game continues to represent the gang. Game pledged allegiance to the Bloods with his lead single for The R.E.D. Album, "Red Nation."

The lyrics for the song, which features fellow Blood, Lil Wayne, are very agressive. Because of this, "Red Nation" has been heavily editied for radio play. Still, the song is hardly played by many radio stations because of the content. While the song, itself, is tough, the video is much tougher.

In the "Red Nation" video, Game is seen dressed in all red, in some parts, and the video re-enacts a riot. Due to the hardcore lyrics and the tougher visuals, BET and MTV decided to ban "Red Nation" from their respective channels. While Game was a little upset because his video was banned, he understands where the networks are coming from as a parent.

Game said his two sons are banned from ever hearing "Red Nation" or watching the video. Despite Game being heavy into gang activitiy, he says this is something his sons will never know about.

JR Staff Writer

Long before her days with Nick Cannon, Mariah Carey was involved with Eminem. The two broke up and seemingly moved on with their lives. But, when Mariah Carey began dating Nick Cannon, Eminem mentioned he used to have a relationship with her.

Mariah Carey publicly denied having anything more than a friendship with Eminem. Following her denial, Eminem made a few public statements. In 2009, Carey released a single taunting Eminem, "Obsessed." Eminem responded with the scathing diss, "The Warning."

Ever since the release of "The Warning," Nick Cannon has had issues with Eminem. Often, Cannon goes out of his way to insult Em. Each time he is dissed by Nick Cannon, Eminem goes right back at him. But, last year, Eminem turned over a new leaf and he promised his family and his friends he would leave all beef alone.

Recently, Nick Cannon took a couple of cheap shots at Eminem at a comedy performance. Cannon said he was only joking around and agreed to put the beef to rest. At this point, Nick Cannon is in the middle of a great stretch. He has two beautiful children, a loving life, and his career is going well. 50 Cent returns to Television Screens

Saturday, April 30, 2011

By TV Insider
JR Staff Writer

In 2008, 50 Cent landed the opportunity of a lifetime when MTV gave him his own reality show. The show was created in the vein of the Diddy-themed reality shows. Titled "The Money and the Power," 50 Cent was playing the role of Donald Trump. Several contestants competed for a role with G-Unit.

Despite having a good premise, the show failed to connect with the viewers. Reality shows do not survive off plot, instead they make it off the stars. Some people have and some people do not. 50 Cent did not and the show did not make it. As quickly as it was put on the air, MTV pulled the show.

50 Cent was in the middle of a label dispute with Interscope, so he was already suffering from hard times. Always confident in the eyes of the media, 50 Cent shrugged it off. He said he really did not need the show or his label because of the millions he had. While this was true, 50 Cent had hoped the show would provide promotion for his latest album.

Putting the previous show in the past, 50 Cent is now in business with VH1. With a different network comes a different type of program. 50 Cent will be starring in a program called "The Origin of Me." The show details 50 Cent as he searches his roots. "The Origin of Me" will premiere on VH1 on May 23.

Eight years ago, the world was introduced to Sara Stokes through the partnership between Sean Combs and MTV. He had taken over the hit ABC series, "Making the Band." Under Combs' guidance, he moved the show to MTV and decided to recruit a hip hop group for his first season.

Sara Stokes was among the contestants on the show. She ended up making it to the finals, becoming a part of the band. Stokes also helped the group come up with their name, Da Band. But, when it was time for them to market themselves, Stokes was uncomfortable doing some of the scenes, because she was married.

Diddy took Da Band apart, keeping Babs and the Philadelphia rapper, making them solo artists.

Xzibit returns to TV in FOX drama

Friday, March 25, 2011

By TV Insider
JR Staff Writer

Initially, Xzibit was the bad boy of the rap game. He was hand-picked by Dr. Dre to take over gangsta rap. X to the Z, as he calls himself, was featured in videos by Snoop Dogg and other legends from the West. When Dr. Dre began working on the second album from Eminem, Xzibit was pushed to the side.

Following his 2000 hit, "X," Xzibit was unable to provide the game with another hit single. Soon, he was forgotten and named another one hit wonder. While most fans had forgotten Xzibit, apparently MTV had not. Xzibit was cast as the host for their experimental series, "Pimp my Ride."

Over the next five years, Xzibit proved not to be the bad guy he portrayed himself to be. Instead, he was actually a geniunely funny guy. Quickly, Xzibit became the face of MTV, as they did minor promotional work on his albums. Despite his attempts to stay in the rap game, Xzibit's claim to fame soon became "Pimp my Ride."

In 2009, the ride officially ended and Xzibit has had roles on other shows. He has made appearances on the ratings monster "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." Now, Xzibit has landed a more secure gig with FOX on their upcoming fall drama, Weekends at Bellvue. Xzibit will be playing the role of 'Chuck.'

Beyonce to release Kanye West-assisted single Next Month

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

By The Music Scoop
JR Staff Writer

Taking a break from the life of a starlet, Beyonce is preparing her long-awaited return to the studio. Beyonce last released an album in 2008, her third effort I Am... Sasha Fierce. The album was met with mixed critical reviews. Aside from her hit singles, critics say the album was rather empty.

Despite the mixed reviews, Beyonce was nominated for several awards because of the album. She had been nominated for Video of the Year in 2009 by MTV. Beyonce would lose this award to newcomer, Taylor Swift. This prompted Kanye West to infamously take the mic away from Swift and ignite his major backlash.

Last year, Kanye West enjoyed great retribution when he released his album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. In a matter of months, he became the favorite in rap again. Now, Kanye West is spending time with Beyonce's husband, Jay-Z, working on their own collaboration album. This album will be the first time Kanye West and Jay-Z face off as equals.

Earlier today, Beyonce announced she would begin working on new music. With nearly three years passing since her last release, fans began wondering when she would return. The speculation is just enough for Bey to prepare her return. Given her history with Kanye West, Beyonce felt it was fitting to have the Louis Vitton don help her return to the game. Beyonce said she will be releasing a new single next month and it will feature a verse from Kanye West.

The new Beyonce single is likely to be the lead from her fourth studio album.

Rihanna upset over Banned Video

Thursday, February 3, 2011

By The Music Scoop
JR Staff Writer

Now a veteran in the game, Rihanna is used to each of her singles receiving publicity. Her latest single, "S&M," is poised for the summer. Despite the good sound, the video for the single has come under scrutiny.

Much like the other Rihanna music videos, "S&M" is very sexually suggestive. With the regulations in the media about what they show, "S&M" has been banned by many outlets. While it was not banned on YouTube, they have restricted the video.

Rihanna is highly upset about her video being banned. She has made a career out of risky videos. Despite her image, Rihanna always makes sure her videos can be shown on television. What has gotten her the most is that the video is not her wildest.

In 2007's "Umbrella," Rihanna appeared full blown nude and no one said anything. Rihanna is so upset, she has urged her fans to help her make the single land in the top ten. Despite the rumors, MTV plans to air the video as it is, but BET has not released a statement. Rihanna and her team is still very confident in the song becoming a major hit.
