The-Dream envisions All-Star lineup for New Album

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

Taking a page out of Jay-Z's playbook, The-Dream decided to retire upon being promoted to an executive role with Def Jam. With all of the office work, The-Dream felt he would have no time to work on music anymore. In nearly an identical fashion to Jay-Z, The-Dream abruptly announced his return to making music.

The-Dream has been a successful songwriter for years, but decided to release his own music in 2007. Following the release of "Shawty is a 10," Dream became extremely popular. His debut album, Love vs. Money, was an instant success. The-Dream helped make 2007 a very successful year for Def Jam.

Sadly, in the time since the release of his albums, Def Jam has been struggling. Most of their prime artists have either left the label or are fighting to leave the label. The-Dream, however, has returned to the artist lineup to keep Def Jam alive, releasing music alongside Ne-Yo and Rihanna. Currently, The-Dream is working on his fourth album, tentatively titled, Love IV.

On this album, The-Dream has listed his dream collaborations. Recently, hip hop has been dominated by the likes of Drake and Kanye West. The two rappers are only a few of the people The-Dream would like to have on his album. Other big names, Dream would like to work with are Lil Wayne and Jay-Z. He also intends to work with some other stars who have been out of the spotlight in recent years. Among those artists are Mary J. Blige, as The-Dream wants everyone he ever worked with on this album.

The-Dream unretires, working on Fourth Studio Album

Thursday, February 10, 2011

By The Music Scoop

Following the release of 2010's Love King, The-Dream said he was going to retire from making music. When he released his debut album, in 2007, The-Dream did not intend to stay in the game for long. He quickly landed an executive role with Def Jam in 2009.

Soon after landing an executive job with Def Jam, The-Dream started working on Love King. The album was to be his final solo release because he needed more time to focus on the business. Before he became a major star, The-Dream was a major songwriter.

In 2007, The-Dream decided to record an album for himself and see how the fans would receive it. He found himself a bigger star than the people he was writing for. Signed to Def Jam, The-Dream was in a similar position to Ne-Yo.

With all of the controversy surrounding him, The-Dream perhaps thought it was time to step away from the spotlight. But, much like Jay-Z, he has decided he cannot stay away from recording music. While he will not leave his executive role with Def Jam, The-Dream has gotten back in the studio and started working on his fourth studio album.

The-Dream retired because he felt his fans did not appreciate him. But, he has gone back on the decision and his new album will be released later this year. The-Dream does not have a title or set release date for the album, as of yet.

Christina Milian describes marriage to The-Dream as Hell

Friday, January 7, 2011

By Mr. Hollywood
JR Staff Writer

Ever since his divorce from Christina Milian, The-Dream has been openly talking about his marriage. The singer offered an apology, not to Milian, but to his fans. He felt his infidelity let them down, not her. The-Dream also said he considered suicide during his marriage to her.

Christina Milian has allowed The-Dream to tell his side of the story, now she wants her turn. Initially, she was going to remain quiet about the situation. She again brought up the fact that she was cheated on repeatedly by The-Dream. Obviously, that is not good for their daughter, Violet.

Through this situation, Christina Milian said she has learned a very valuable lesson about people. No matter what, no one person can change another person. Not only that, but she also said no one should ever try to change themselves in order to be with someone. She said she wanted so badly for the marriage to work out, but in the back of her mind she knew that it would not.

Now that she has learned exactly how strong she is, Christina Milian is over it. She said now she is going to focus on being a good mother for her daughter. Violet is approaching a year old this summer and she has to be there for her while The-Dream enjoys the single life.

Christina Milian still friends with The-Dream

Over the past few months, Christina Milian has been all over the news. Her relationship with The-Dream quickly blossomed into a marriage and that marriage quickly soured. With a sour marriage, the news about the couple read divorce. Ever since their divorce went public, the couple has been sparring.

Milian publicly stated The-Dream began cheating on her shortly after she gave birth to his child. The fact that he could not be faithful to her is the reason she could no longer be in the relationship. After she released this news, The-Dream offered a public apology. But, this apology was to his fans, not his ex-wife.

Instead of offering an apology, The-Dream was seemingly taking shots at his former lover. Christina Milian has openly taken shots at her former husband. She said she deserves every million being offered in the settlement, while The-Dream said he will do what he has to in order to make sure his child is taken care of. Even through all of this, Christina Milian says she has no hard feelings.

Admittedly, a romantic relationship with The-Dream did not work out, but Christina Milian says she still views him as a friend. Even after the negative things she has said about him in the media, Milian feels she can trust him with her secrets. Because of their child, Milian will either have to be The-Dream's friend or pretend for the sake of her offspring. In an effort to get off to a good start, Christina Milian has decided she would rather befriend her ex than lie to her child about their relationship.

The-Dream and Christina Milian agree to Divorce Settlement

Last year, as he was preparing the release of his second album, The-Dream began dating Christina Milian. The couple appeared to be a match made in heaven. Soon after they began dating, Milian ended up pregnant with The-Dream's child.

For the child, the R&B couple decided to wed. Early on, they appeared to be very happy. The-Dream and Christina Milian even covered a few magazines. Unlike other celebrity couples, they vowed to stay together. But, they fell into the same trap most celebrities fall into.

Earlier this year, Christina Milian accused The-Dream of cheating on her. Not long after the accusations, the couple separated. Barely six months after their settlement, they officially filed for divorce. When their relationship woes went public, The-Dream wrote an open letter and took full responsibility for misleading the people to believe their relationship was fine when it was not.

After all of the back and forths and disagreement over terms, the couple has agreed to a $4 million settlement and The-Dream will also have to pay an additional $5,000 a month to Milian and his child.

The Dream Discusses His Separation From Christina Milian

Friday, July 16, 2010

Earlier this week, as you all know, The Dream has caused a big controversy with the released pictures of him and his personal assistant, leaving others questioned about him and Christina Milian's relationship.

He addressed the situation on his website and said the following:

In My Own Words:
First I want to thank God for the trials of life, without them we can’t know purpose!
I would love to tell the truth as to why my relationship wasn’t successful, but today that is between me and Christina. Its easy to say that it’s because of another woman or a new relationship but truthfully, IT’S NOT.
I take FULL RESPONSIBILITY for misleading everyone into thinking everything was fine and okay when we knew problems existed for awhile! I wanted to speak up but we decided it wasn’t for anyone to know. I would NEVER intentionally hurt a soul and everyone around me knows that! There was so much going on in me and Christina’s personal world that I tried to deal with it as delicately as I could and tried to regain my footing. Instead of being direct in order not to cause even more hurt or hurt someone’s feelings, I carried the weight in secret!
I am Human and people fall in and out of Love all the time… This is Life. Nothing’s promised or perfect, neither am I. I am not proud that I lost something we once had…LOVE! I’ve always been a Loving Father, Hard Worker, Generous, Stern and Eager to prove myself. My faults are I can be irresponsible and an ass sometimes, but I HAVE NEVER and WILL NEVER be a malicious person or wish harm to anyone, especially those I love or the mother of my child. I’m sorry for the embarrassment to everyone involved! If there’s anyone to blame and you can’t fathom this happening, please blame me and me alone for not being upfront! Even though we were trying to overcome personal things between us, I was just simply scared and embarrassed to let everyone know we WERE FAILING and HAVE NOW FAILED!
This is not to justify anything, it’s true emotion! It’s a real thing that involves real people! I’ve cried about this for months, after interviews, after prayer and I’ve tried to take my own life at a point because of the failure that was looming.
But I was reminded by my MOTHER that I am not “Superman” and its okay to lose sometimes…
This too shall pass! And everything will be fine!
~ Terius Nash ~
I had faith in these two, but not anymore.

Christina, you settled for less. I'm just saying.

Rumors reported that The Dream and Christina Milian were separated but were never confirmed until early this morning photos of The Dream and his personal assistant Melissa was all cuddled up in the Caribbean.

Terius 'The Dream' Nash is saddened to announce that his marriage to Christina Milian was unsuccessful. The couple reached this decision in late 2009, but decided to keep the news private in efforts to protect their baby daughter Violet. They ask for consideration and respect for their family.

US Weekly released that statement from The Dream.

& I feel as if this situation will only get uglier in the media.

How are you asking for consideration and respect, when you don't even have enough respect for Christina of the released photos of you and your personal assistant Melissa Marie? Christina even has a picture sitting alongside of Melissa as If she would never expect It being her.

We'll see how this plays out, hopefully It doesn't get uglier than It already is.

The-Dream makes retirement Plans

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

Late in 2007, The-Dream found his way in the game with his hit single, "Shawty Is a 10." The song captured the heart of urban radio and the people could not get enough of The-Dream. It turned out, he had been around for years. Some of the more memorable R&B tracks of the 2007-2008 period were written by The-Dream.

Quickly, The-Dream became one of the more popular men in the R&B game. Soon, he found himself as the top option for rappers wanting someone to sing their hooks. Initially, Dream had hoped to release his sophomore album in 2008. But, label politics led to his album being pushed back to 2009. Upon its release, the album was extremely successful.

After Def Jam decided to remove Jermaine Dupri from the head of their Island division, they moved The-Dream into the position. To focus on the new promotion, The-Dream has decided to retire. Mariah Carey and The-Dream sued over "My Love" duet

Wednesday, May 19, 2010

For years, some of the biggest hitmakers in the music industry have gotten their hits from independent creators. However, it was not until the 2000s when these independent people began to fight back. With the emergence of the internet, the playing field have been leveled and these people are looking to be compensated. The top players in the music industry have all been caught.

Now, it is Mariah Carey and The-Dream's turn. There is a producer from the Bay Area who claims he, not The-Dream, composed the song, "My Love." This man is not taking this lightly, as he is suing many other major stars for copyright infringement. He has The-Dream for many other songs, but the most-notable one is his Mariah Carey duet. The song was featured on his Love vs. Money album.

When the producer first heard the song, it reminded him of one he created. Then, he spent over three hours playing the songs back. He would soon realize The-Dream had somehow heard his song and stole it from him. He admitted to actually meeting The-Dream and they were close to working on a deal to use his song. For some reason, they never reached a deal and Dream had to create his own song. Apparently, he decided to rework the song he had already created. The terms of the suit have not been disclosed at this point.
