Once again, Rihanna makes history. This time around, the starlet of Def Jam is making history for her string of hits. Not too many artists have enjoyed runs the way Rihanna has. She has been more successful than Beyonce and other major stars in her six year run.

In 2006, Rihanna proved she was not a one hit wonder when she released "S.O.S." The song became her first number one hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Five years later, Rihanna is still topping the charts. Currently, Rihanna is out promoting her fifth studio album, Loud.

Loud is home to a couple of chart-topping Rihanna singles, including her latest, "S&M." The "S&M" single is Rihanna's tenth number one single. "S&M" has helped Rihanna become a part of history. Joining the likes of Jay-Z, Rihanna now shares a record with The Beatles. Jay-Z's record is for most number one albums, Rihanna's is for most number one singles in such a short span.

Her record of ten number one singles in five years is tied with The Beatles for the most in history.

The latest single from Rihanna, "S&M," has caused controversy at every turn. When the video was released, several media outlets refused to air it. Because of the sexual nature, the video was edited by several networks before being shown. Other networks had a parental advisory warning before showing.

Rihanna has been very vocal about how upset she is over the way "S&M" has been treated. When she first changed her image, there was no issue with her appearance. Rihanna's video for "Umbrella" featured her entirely nude. But, in "S&M," she is only dressed seductively.

The United Kingdom has given "S&M" its biggest censorship by changing the title. Not wanting to offend conservative fans, the song is known as "Come On" across the pond. All of the controversy has gotten to Rihanna and she has blown her composure. In the past when faced with adversity, the Def Jam singer is usually calm and collected.

Each time she thinks the nightmare is over, Rihanna is hit with more bad news. Now, Rihanna is being sued by celebrity photographer, David LaChapelle over the video. He is suing because of the colors used in the video. The famed photographer claims the images and colors have been copyrighted by him for years. After the video premiered, LaChapelle tweeted to Rihanna that she should hire him the next time she wants to use his trademarks for her video.

The two have worked together in the past, but will be seeing each other in court this time around.

While the R&B scene has been criticized for the sexually explicit videos, not everyone is offended. Rihanna has been in the news, arguing about her "S&M" video being banned. Despite not appearing nude in the video, several media outlets have refused to air it.

Keri Hilson has also come under a bit of fire with her video, "Love Me," but not like Rihanna. There has been discussion about also banning her video. Even with everything going on, both artists can at least celebrate the exposure.

Lloyd is not offended by the videos. Instead, the Zone 4 singer is actually a major fan of the videos. Coming from a man, this does not come with much surprise. But, Lloyd has reasoning for liking the new vidoes.

The creativity of the videos is what Lloyd really likes. There has always been a sexual undertone to certain forms of R&B. Now, in recent years, it is being explored more and it is currently being explored by two of the most popular women in R&B. Lloyd likes the idea of the sexuality being explored on camera, calling it an expression of art.

Rihanna has been in the game for six years releasing new material and she has drastically changed her image. When she released her first album, Rihanna's music was more island-influenced. But, she has evolved over the years.

Under the guidance of Jay-Z, Rihanna crossed over in 2006 with her hit single, "SOS." It was then that her career forever changed and she became an A-list star. Rihanna portrayed the ultimate "good girl image."

However, on her third album, Rihanna looked to change her image into something more sexy. The result of her decision led to her album, A Good Girl Gone Bad. First, her lyrics changed and later she changed her style of dress.

Rihanna has evolved from a good girl from the islands into one of America's biggest sex symbols. She has been pushing the envelope for well over five years and she plans to continue. Her latest video, "S&M," has caught the attention of everyone. The video is very racy and features Rihanna in little to no clothing. The video for "S&M" has been banned from a few music video networks.

This is a tough blow to Rihanna, as she is in the middle of promotion for her Loud album. She is upset because she was nude in 2007's "Umbrella," but that video was not banned. But, in her latest video, she is a little more sexual and the video has been banned. More than once, she has spoken in outrage about the way her video is being treated.

Now a veteran in the game, Rihanna is used to each of her singles receiving publicity. Her latest single, "S&M," is poised for the summer. Despite the good sound, the video for the single has come under scrutiny.

Much like the other Rihanna music videos, "S&M" is very sexually suggestive. With the regulations in the media about what they show, "S&M" has been banned by many outlets. While it was not banned on YouTube, they have restricted the video.

Rihanna is highly upset about her video being banned. She has made a career out of risky videos. Despite her image, Rihanna always makes sure her videos can be shown on television. What has gotten her the most is that the video is not her wildest.

In 2007's "Umbrella," Rihanna appeared full blown nude and no one said anything. Rihanna is so upset, she has urged her fans to help her make the single land in the top ten. Despite the rumors, MTV plans to air the video as it is, but BET has not released a statement. Rihanna and her team is still very confident in the song becoming a major hit.
