Four albums deep, Jill Scott has made one of the biggest achievements of her career. Scott's first three albums were under her Words and Sounds series. Moving on now, and becoming an eleven year veteran, Jill Scott has officially moved into the next phase of her career.
Her personal life has drastically changed. Around the release of her last album, Scott was going through a divorce. During her hiatus, Jill Scott moved on, having a child. Now a single mother, she is hoping to co-parent with her child's father. With her personal life stable, Jill Scott returned to music.
Jill Scott released The Light of the Sun a little over a week ago. Selling 135,000 copies in its first week, Jill Scott topped the Billboard Hot 200 for the first time in her career. Her previous album, released in 2007, was a top five album, peaking at number four on the Billbaord Hot 200. It has been an adventure for Jill Scott on the latest album.
Coincidentally, Jill Scott not only topped Billboard, she also had the cover of the July issue.
