Amerie marries Lenny Nicholson of Columbia Records

Nine years ago, Amerie rose to fame with her hit single, "Why Can't We Fall in Love." Released during the summer of 2002, the song quickly became a hit. The song had an extended run on radio stations across the United States when Ludacris provided a verse on the remix.

For three years, Amerie was forgotten by most. However, she returned with a bang in 2005. Her single, "1 Thing," returned her to the top of pop radio stations. The song continued to have buzz during the summer of 2005. However, she failed to produce another hit single to follow things up.

After her Because I Love It album was mishandled by Columbia Records, Amerie would leave the label. In 2009, she signed a production deal with Def Jam and released her most recent album, In Love & War. The album featured collaborations from Lil Wayne, Fabolous, Trey Songz, and a few other big names.

Recently, Amerie returned to headlines with news of her marrying Lenny Nicholson, an A&R for her former label, Columbia Records.
