The past two years, 2009 and 2010, have been fantastic years for the rising Trey Songz. Now that 2011 is here, he wants to solidify himself as the new king of R&B. In a year that was filled with hits by the likes of Usher and Ne-Yo, Trey Songz held his own and posted quite a few hits.
Finally proving to himself and others that he belongs in the same category as those men, he is off to bigger things. In a year only a week old, Trey Songz is already lining up work. The Virginia native has a string of performances to do. He is also helping out with the promotion of Rocawear.
Despite his ventures now going well outside of the music, Trey Songz has his priorities in order. He has yet to announce any new solo music, but he does have some things coming up. Lupe Fiasco, his label-mate at Atlantic Records, recruited him for a collaboration. The Chicago rapper's long-awaited album, Lasers, is finally going to be released in March.
After a three-year hiatus, Lupe Fiasco needs something to draw the fans in. His bait will be the most-popular man in the R&B game with Trey Songz. For the album, though, Trey Songz will only be singing, he has left his rapping alias, Trigga, on the mixtape scene. However, in the future, Trey Songz does want to do a little more rapping on his projects.
