Trey Songz disses R. Kelly
Friday, April 2, 2010
Throughout his career, and especially since the release of Ready, Trey Songz has received a lot of comparisons to R. Kelly. Last year, he spoke on those comparisons. He said that he was flattered, but no one could ever be what R. Kelly has been in the game. Trey Songz had previously been rumored to be feuding with R. Kelly.
Rumors of a feud between Trey Songz and R. Kelly hit their peak before the end of last year. They peaked right before the holiday season and Songz denied the rumors. He reminded people that he grew up listening to R. Kelly's music. In addition, Kelly also wrote for Songz' debut album and provided some production work.
Despite everything that he has said about his relationship with R. Kelly, Trey Songz has recently had more negative things to say about him. While Songz has denied being in a direct feud with the man that he once looked up to, that does not mean that he is a major supporter, either. Ever since the release of Ready, people have accused him of stealing R. Kelly's style. Trey Songz continues to insist that is not the case and he turned the blame to R. Kelly, himself, as a defense.
Trey Songz has lashed out at R. Kelly, yet again over his style. The style that has been made popular by Kelly was, in fact, created by Aaron Hall. He admitted to implemting some of Kelly's style into his own, but that is what Kelly did to establish himself. Despite the two having a working relationship, Trey Songz has been feuding with R. Kelly ever since the beginning of his career. Their feud stems from Songz remixing Kelly's 2005 hit, "Trapped in the Closet." Trey Songz sang as the man in the closet and R. Kelly later revealed that the man in the closet was gay. Since that time, he has not had much nice to say about Kells.
In response to Trey Songz, R. Kelly said that he should be very careful. In many ways, Trey Songz is replacing R. Kelly, including his newfound friendship with Jay-Z.
