Teairra Mari denies beef with Rihanna and discusses Jay-Z

In 2004, two major artists were added to the Def Jam roster by Jay-Z. At the time, Jay was playing the role of CEO to two different companies. It was up to him to sign artists to both Def Jam and his own label, Roc-A-Fella Records, which was run by Def Jam. He ended up signing two similar artists to two different labels. Teairra Mari was signed to Roc-A-Fella and Rihanna to Def Jam.

Roc-A-Fella Records is the label actually created by Jay-Z, but his biggest profits came from Def Jam. In 2005, both of his additions released their albums. Despite Mari being the product of his own creation, the focus, and thus the limelight, was on Rihanna. Five years later, the big star is Rihanna and the essential no name is Teairra Mari. Because of this, a feud has been created between the two singers.

When Teairra Mari first left the Roc, people tried to make her upset with Rihanna and Jay-Z. During the 2005 BET Awards, the two presented an award together. Teairra Mari said that was one of the few times that they have actually seen each other in person. She said that there is no feud between herself and Rihanna, mainly because they do not know each other. But, each time that they did meet in person Teairra said that they got along just fine.

As far as her relationship with Jay-Z, Teairra Mari said that there was nothing personal between the two aside from business. She said that she has met with Jay-Z once since she left his label. The reason that she left the label was because the executives from the Roc felt that they could not do enough for her career. In the end, she said that she was grateful for the opportunity and the fact that they let her go in order to help her grow. Teairra Mari felt that it was best for her to move on and she said that she could not fault Jay-Z for simply doing business. However, she said that she respects Jay-Z for his business ventures and his business mind.
