Melyssa Ford, the Reformed Video Honey

Wednesday, April 7, 2010

Before the end of the 1990s, a term had risen to define the women that appear in music videos. Originally, they were called "video whores," but the phrase was toned down a bit. In 2004, there was a feature done  about the women who star in music videos. One of the first females to rise to fame was Melyssa Ford. Her status as a video honey was called out by Game in his 2007 single, "Wouldn't Get Far."

For years, Melyssa Ford has accepted people referring to her as a video honey. But, now, Ford is trying to rid herself of that title. She has set the record straight for those who did not know. Ford has let anyone who is asking know that she is not a video honey. In order to be a video honey, she would have to appear in videos. Melyssa Ford no longer appears in music videos.

Instead of being a video honey, Melyssa Ford wants to pursue a career in television. Ford sees herself becoming a famous actress. If she does not land a scripted role, Melyssa Ford hopes that she can land a reality show. She said that she left the music video business because the other women involved were doing things she did not like to do in order to advance. Ford found other ways to make more money and feeling comfortable doing so. Ford said that she could be an A-list star if she were completely charged by money.
