Allen Iverson's marriage is In Trouble
Thursday, March 4, 2010
Former NBA superstar, Allen Iverson has had a tough break, as of late. He had to deal with playing off of the bench last season with the Detroit Pistons. Last summer, he was practically shunned by the NBA when no team was willing to sign him. With all of the frustrations, Iverson retired from the league only to return the same week. His old team, the Philadelphia 76ers, took a chance on their former superstar.
His time back in Philadelphia has had good spots and bad spots. Iverson was voted as an All-Star starter, but injury kept him from the game. This season, he scored 23 points against the Los Angeles Lakers in a duel with Kobe Bryant, but he is averaging career lows in points. When things appeared to be at its worst, it got worse when his 4-year-old daughter was revealed to be sick.
The illness has not been released to the media, but it is so serious that Allen Iverson sat out for the remainder of this season. He said that he could not play basketball with his family needing him the way that they do. Only days after he made that statement, his wife, Tawanna, is filing for divorce from the basketball player. She is citing an "irretrievably broken" marriage as her reason for wanting out. Not only is she leaving A.I., but she wants full custody of their five children, alimony, and child support.
