"The Game" starts a new Dance Craze

Last night, BET scored more high ratings behind the efforts of "The Game." After being away for nearly two years, fans are eager for new episodes. The episode picked up from Tia Mowry's Melanie telling Pooch Hall's 'Derwin' about his son.

In the second episode, fans saw Brittany Daniel's character 'Kelly' make up with Wendy Rachel Robinson's character 'Tasha.' The high point of the show was supposed to be 'Melanie's' confession to 'Derwin,' but Coby Bell stole the show.

Last summer, Bell was likely not to be on "The Game" when it returned because of a role he had taken with "Burn Notice." But, when the filming began, his schedule was actually clear, so he returned to play 'Jason Pitts' again. Already playing an aging superstar, when the show picked up two years later, Bell's Jason was basically retired and hosting a TV show. On the last episode, viewers saw 'Jason' not be signed to a new contract and him officially retire. Things only became worse for 'Jason' when he introduced "The Pittsy Shuffle" to his fans during his party.

While the "Dip n Pitts," as it is being fondly called by fans, was a miss on the actual show, it has become a hit with viewers across the world.

Rick Fox will return to “The Game”

Thursday, May 13, 2010

When “The Game” first began airing, it was popular because of its soap opera-like storyline in a sitcom format. One of the other reasons that the show was so popular was because of the high-profile guest appearances. Rick Fox first appeared on “The Game” in 2007, but his popularity led to a pairing opposite Wendy Raquel Robinson’s Tasha Mack. Playing as himself, Fox became a key character on the show.

However, last season, Fox left the show midseason due to storyline issues. At the time, Tasha was upset with both Rick Fox and Brittany Daniels’ Kelly Pitts because she had been fired from her job. Because she was upset, she called things off with Rick Fox. Heartbroken, he accepted a job in Miami, leaving Tasha alone. Even as he was leaving, he and Tasha reconciled, but it was too late for him to undo what he had done.

After “The Game” was cancelled by The CW and it was taking ages for BET to come through with another season, it appeared as if Rick Fox was done for good. But, last month, BET revealed that they had worked out a deal to bring “The Game” back. The only problem was trying to retain the cast. Coby Bell had already accepted a starring role on another show, but he agreed to become a recurring character.

But, no one expected Rick Fox to agree to rejoin the cast. With Coby Bell being pretty much left out of the major plot for season four, “The Game” needed for someone else to step in. Rick Fox will be given a major role for the upcoming fourth season. During his first run on “The Game,” Fox only played a minor role in the plot. Now, he will have a major role in the storyline that will continue with the broken relationship of Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall.

Wendy Raquel Robinson speaks on BET and "The Game"

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

Ever since May 2009, there has been a push to save the hit sitcom, "The Game." Last year, the sitcom found a new home on BET and when The CW ridded the show from their schedule. From that point on, BET has been trying to land "The Game" for a fourth season. The fans of the show have been left out when trying to figure out the status of the show. Many people turned to the stars of the show, but they knew just as much as the fans.

Wendy Raquel Robinson has been hoping that something would happen that would bring "The Game" back for another season. Now that the show is off of The CW, she has been watching the BET reruns. BET recently began broadcasting the third season of the show. It was during this third season when "The Game" finally got personal. In the first two seasons, "The Game" relied on famous guest appearances. But, they toned down on that later on.

Earlier this month, news broke about BET finally reaching a deal to bring the hit sitcom back for another season. Just like the rest of the public, Wendy Raquel Robinson had to go to the internet to discover the status of the show that gave her career a second life. When it was finally revealed that BET and "The Game" had reached a deal, Wendy Raquel Robinson was truly happy. She said that she applauded the move to Atlanta, for means to produce at the same top-quality, but to save money.

Despite Coby Bell (Jason Pitts) landing a role on "Burn Notice," Wendy Raquel Robinson remains hopeful about him being able to work both programs at the same time. While he has moved on, Coby Bell said that he will make appearances, when needed. Having him down as a recurring character would still keep him in the plot, but he would not have nearly as big of a role. Because he was one of the core cast members, Robinson hopes that something can be done for Bell to keep his old job and move on to a new one.
