Trey Songz joins UK part of Ne-Yo's tour

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Not even a month into the New Year and Trey Songz is already back to work, as if he took much time off. Last year, Trey Songz joined with Jay-Z and Young Jeezy for the Blueprint 3 Tour. Trey Songz is similarly helping out with Ne-Yo this year.

After being away from the game for two years, Ne-Yo experienced a successful comeback with Libra Scale. The first single, "Champagne Life," captured the hearts of fans across the world. Currently, his single, "One in a Million," is gaining radio play.

Trey Songz launched his comeback in 2009 and did not look back. In one year, he took over the R&B game. He posted five hits in the year and released another album in 2010. With the new album, Trey continued his run with two hit singles in 2010 that still receive play.

While Ne-Yo is popular, currently he is not on the same level as Trey Songz. Ne-Yo reached out to Trey and he reached back for him. Ne-Yo set up a world tour, promoting his Libra Scale album and Trey Songz will be performing as an opening act for Ne-Yo during his trip to the United Kingdom. More than likely, this part of Ne-Yo's tour will be a bit more popular than the rest.

Ne-Yo cast as Hitman in "CSI: NY"

When he first came into the game, Ne-Yo knew he would be more than a songwriter. Soon, he branched out and became a force in R&B with his own solo music. Releasing a new album each year, the summers were known for Ne-Yo hits. But, he reached a new pinnacle after 2008's Year of the Gentlemen.

After the release of this album, Ne-Yo focused on acting and producing for other artists. For most of 2009, Ne-Yo was doing songs with other artists. When he was not producing, he was singing or doing videos. But, when the time came, Ne-Yo went back into the studio, but he had more plans.

Not only was Libra Scale going to be an album, it was also going to be a movie. The singer had plans of doing a video for every song and making it into an album. But, soon he realized the production costs and decided it would be best to hold off on the movie. So, the songs he did videos for, Ne-Yo decided to make them go in order to tell a short story.

Apparently, CBS has picked up on Ne-Yo's acting abilities as "CSI: NY" has cast him to play in an upcoming episode. Throughout his career, Ne-Yo has always portrayed himself as a clean cut overall good person. While he will remain clean cut in his designer suits, Ne-Yo will have a different role to play. Instead of being a good-guy, Ne-Yo will be playing the role of a hitman. This will be one true test in his acting career as Ne-Yo is used to being good and will now have to play bad.

Ne-Yo addresses "Libra Scale" leak

Wednesday, October 27, 2010

When he first signed with Def Jam, Ne-Yo released an album every calendar year. But, following Year of the Gentleman, Ne-Yo took some time off to gather his thoughts. He planned to come back in 2010 with the best album of his career. The singles released from his fourth effort, Libra Scale, have been well-received, but there is a slight hitch.

Roughly a month before the album is prepared to hit shelves both in the United States and internationally, the album has been leaked. This is nothing new with big name artists when they prepare their albums. But, usually artists deal with their albums being leaked a week or two ahead of time. Ne-Yo is highly upset and he has a reason.

Ne-Yo replied to the hacker via Twitter.

"Salutations all. I’m in japan and my album officially came out today out here. Today is a day that I SHOULD be very happy, but it has been brought to my attention that my album was hacked and leaked in the U.S. roughly a month before it’s U.S. release.

Initially this angered me. It’s stealing plain n’ simple. But then I started thinking. Why do I make music….? To sell records, make money, or is it because I love it, love how it touches people, how it helps people? The honest answer is both…

However, my love for music and it’s effect on people, outweighs my desire to simply sell records, or get that number one debut spot.

In a time where people buy their status and falsify their success, can those things really be that important to me? The answer is no.
So with that said, I’ve come to this place of mental peace. No longer stressing people that steal the music, how it’ll effect my sales. The bottom line is, I worked hard on this project. The music, the concept, the whole lot is for the people, respect or not.
So if you as a fan give a damn about me, buy the album when it comes out. If you don’t care, go get it off the internet. Your choice.
Ether way, the music, the concept, the whole lot, served it’s purpose. It gave the people something quality to vibe to. I’m not solely in the business of selling records. I’m in the business of making art. That’s what an artist does, period.
So with that twit fam and haters alike, I bid you farewell for now, and leave you with this….

I’LL BE DAMNED IF YOU HACKER FUCKS GET MY NEXT ALBUM BEFORE IT’S TIME!!! FUCK YOU ALL!!!! Have a nice day."
