Jay-Z explains keeping his Cool

Thursday, April 14, 2011

Ever since his feud with Nas, Jay-Z has been untouchable on all levels. While becoming one of America's biggest businessmen, he has still maintained his street credibility. This comes after being dissed by several rappers, including Lil Wayne, Jim Jones, 50 Cent, and Cam'ron.

Some of the disses became very personal. The rappers spoke of how Jay-Z looks, calling him a camel. Jim Jones went as far as to say Beyonce was too good for him. Jones invited Beyonce to come chill with him. Through all of this, Jay-Z remained mum in his responses.

Because of his responsibilities as a businessman, Jay-Z could only say so much in response. There have been times when Jay-Z wanted to say more. 50 Cent provoked Jay-Z late in 2009 when he said Jay-Z was a punk and was afraid to diss rappers after losing to Nas. The G-Unit rapper went as far as to use Jay's former protege, Beanie Sigel, against him.

Gwyneth Paltrow recently interviewed Jay-Z and she asked him how he maintains his cool with so much thrown at him at all times. Jay-Z replied, having the coolest women around him at all times, helps him keep his cool at all times. No matter what is thrown in his direction, Jay-Z still has Beyonce, he still has his successful businesses and his enemies are still jealous.

Before the premiere of "Love & Hip Hop" on VH1, the villain on the show was painted to be Somaya Reece. Reece rose to popularity late in 2009 as a video honey. She has been attached to several of the big names in hip hop. Among the men she has been linked with are Joe Budden and Jim Jones.

Somaya Reece is actually trying to distance herself from the rap game, as she is focusing on her own career. But, she made an enemy in Chrissy Lampkin with her statements about Lampkin's boyfriend, Jim Jones. Days before the series premiere, Olivia, former G-Unit artist and co-star, said she disliked Reece.

When "Love & Hip Hop" actually premiered, Somaya Reece soon became a favorite with the fans. The other women of the show dislike Reece, but the fans love the drama. Men love her because of her looks and women love her because she is not backing down from the other women on the show. Somaya Reece is simply a woman trying to place some order into her life.

Her "Would You Still Love Me" video is one of Reece's first singles. She says the lyrics in the song are pure and she really wants the fans to vibe to it.

Jim Jones talks turning VH1 down

Friday, March 25, 2011

By the looks of his rap persona, Jim Jones loves being the center of attention. When his longtime girlfriend, Chrissy Lampkin, revealed the new VH1 series was initially created for Jim Jones, it shocked fans of the rapper. Jim Jones is known for going after Jay-Z on several occasions, mainly for the attention, but he turned VH1 down.

"Love & Hip Hop" premiered on VH1 last week. The show has become another fan favorite. Instead of focusing on Jones and his family, it focuses on the women in hip hop. Former G-Unit songstress, Olivia, along with Fabolous' girlfriend, Emily Bustamante, Somaya Reece, and Lampkin, of course, star on the show.

Jim Jones explained he does love being the center of attention when it comes to the rap game. While he could be a part of a reality show, he could not have it expose his family life. Usually, when a celebrity of his nature lands a reality show, their family life falls apart. Instead, Jones asked VH1 to allow Chrissy Lampkin to have a starring role in the show.

Jones said if they created a show around her and some other women in the hip hop world, he would give the show his full support.

Chrissy Lampkin says "Love & Hip Hop" orginally focused on Jim Jones

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

With the series premiere of "Love & Hip Hop" last night, one of the stars opened up about the show. Originally, the show was not about the women of hip hop. Before focusing on the girlfriends of Fabolous and Jim Jones, the show was to be about Jim Jones.

Initially, the businessman of Diplomat Records, Jim Jones began rapping in 2004. He released two albums in 2004 and 2005 before hitting it big in 2006. Jones' single, "We Fly High," became an anthem in 2006. The song, along with a high-profile feud with Jay-Z, made Jones into a hip hop king.

However, Jim Jones has been on a steady decline ever since he reached the top. Soon, fans found his rapping style annoying. Aside from his style, his flamboyant personality turned many fans off. Initially, fans supported him in his Jay-Z beef, but they soon switched back to Jay-Z, as he continued to break records.

Despite Jim Jones' flamboyant personality, he could not handle being the star of a television show. The series, which would have been titled "Jim and the Family Jones," would have also focused on his family life. Jim Jones hardly ever speaks of his family. Even though he is very vocal, he has done well in keeping his family out of his hectic lifestyle. That reason, alone, is why Jim Jones passed the show up. It was revamped and several other women were brought in to round the show out.

With a little over a week until the series premiere of the VH1 series, "Love and Hip Hop," the ladies have opened up to Miss Info. The women called into her show to talk about some things. Olivia has already made it clear she is not friends with one woman in the cast.

Now, the rest of the ladies have their chance to express their feelings. The cast not only includes former G-Unit songstress, Olivia, but also the former trophy wife of Swizz Beatz, Mashonda. In addition to Mashonda, Fabolous' girlfriend, Emily Bustamante, Jim Jones' girlfriend, Chrissy Lampkin, and Somaya Reece will also be featured on the show.

Each of the women called in at different times and spoke with Miss Info. Emily Bustamante said when she was approached to be in the show, it all seemed very positive. However, things changed when she actually began filming. Bustamante said she had no idea the show would focus so much on her relationship with Fabolous. She thought the show would focus more on her lifestyle, showing her working and taking care of her son with Fabolous.

Chrissy Lampkin also speaks with Miss Info about her role in the series. She will propose to Jim Jones during the run of the first season. Lampkin also reveals she has issues with Somaya Reece and they existed long before they began doing the show together. They were introduced when Lampkin was in the studio with her boyfriend, while he was recording with Joe Budden. Reece, at the time, was dating Joe Budden and was in the studio, also. Lampkin said their relationship was rocky from the very beginning.

Olivia and Somaya Reece are also shown having an altercation on camera. Last week, Olivia addressed this, saying she has no feelings about Reece one way or the other.
