Early in her career, Ciara posted multiple hits for Jive Records, but has struggled recently. When she was a young girl singing provocative lyrics, Ciara was extremely popular. But, when she transitioned into full adulthood, her popularity waned.

In 2006, Ciara released "Promise" and the remix featured R. Kelly and rumors began about the two dating. The rumors proved to be false, however, soon stories about her and 50 Cent came. Jive had issues with her being around 50 Cent.

On the heels of her 2007 album, Ciara announced her next release, Fantasy Ride. The album suffered from a lack of promotion at the hands of Jive Records. During the same year, newcomer, Keri Hilson, experienced tremendous success.

Because she had been with Jive Records for over five years, Ciara hoped things would be different when it was time to promote Basic Instinct. Sadly, the result was the same and her sales were so low that she became a laughingstock in the eyes of some. Ciara defended herself, saying she does not care about album sales. However, the low sales of her album have Ciara looking for an out.

Recently, there was news of Jive Records dropping Ciara from their roster. Ciara addressed the news, saying she had not been dropped from the label. However, she is highly upset with Jive Records and she does want to be released from her contract with them. Ciara admitted to having good times with the label, but said they left her on her own on her last two albums. She paid for promotion out of pocket.

Tired of being mistreated by Jive Records, Ciara wants to be released so she can move on with her career.
