When Michelle Obama invited Common to a poetry event at the White House, it appeared to be a nice gesture between hip hop and politics. Surely, no one expected the outrage from the right-wing politicians that soon followed. Sarah Palin has been very vocal about Common being in the White House.

Common was very critical of former president, George W. Bush, calling him out in one of his songs. When Palin discovered he would be at the poetry event, she posted on Twitter. She made a sarcastic remark about the White House and linked to a conservative article about Common.

Michelle Obama and the White House have yet to respond to the comments made by Palin. Common has held his silence long enough. Through Twitter, Common laughed and asked for a link to Sarah Palin's post about him. The Chicago rapper joked of how he woke up to find himself on the "shitlist" of former Alaska governor, Sarah Palin.

Common jokingly said "so apparently Sarah Palin and Fox News don't like me."

Earlier today, it was reported that Chicago rapper, Common, had been invited to perform at the White House. Common will be joined by Jill Scott, Bill Collins and Rita Dove to celebrate American poetry. Following a workshop for the children, they will perform in the evening.

Common was among the many rappers who spoke out during the presidency of George W. Bush. Given the level of disrespect he had for the previous president, many conservatives feel he should not be invited to the White House. Through Twitter, Sarah Palin made some subliminal comments.

Palin commented "Oh, White House," after learning Common was on the guest list. She also posted a link to an article written about the rapper on The Daily Caller, a conservative website. On the site, the lyrics of his song, "Letter to the Law," are posted. In this song, Common called out former president George W. Bush.

Michelle Obama has yet to send an official reply to Palin.

Rashard Mendenhall under fire for Bin Laden Twitter comments

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

The name Osama Bin Laden reigned terror over the United States for nearly a decade. Bin Laden was often listed among the most dangerous men in the world. In 2001, he pulled off the only attack on the soil of the United States in history.

While the 9/11 attacks have been blamed on Bin Laden, there are many who believe George W. Bush, the president at the time, was also involved in the attacks. Bush was known for having several business dealings with people in the Middle East.

Late on the night of May 1, 2011, news outlets began reporting of Osama Bin Laden's death. Following the news, people all over the world have been celebrating. While Bin Laden has done bad things throughout his life, there are many who believe celebrating his death is uncalled for. God teaches the people to love everyone in spite of what they have done and not to celebrate death. Rashard Mendenhall is among the people who did not celebrate Bin Laden's death.

Mendenhall, the running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers, called these people out on Twitter. He asked how a person could celebrate the death of another human being. The NFL star also questioned how people could hate someone they never met. Rashard Mendenhall said the American people have only heard one side of the story and he found it odd that a single airplane could make a structure as tall as the World Trade Center come tumbling down.

Once his comments were released, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the NFL moved quickly to remove themselves from the statement. They also forced Mendenhall to remove his comments, but he has to yet to receive an official punishment from the NFL or his team.

Kanye West disses Amber Rose

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

For nearly two years, Kanye West and Amber Rose engaged in a highly-publicized relationship. The two seemingly ended things, last summer, on good terms. However, this remains to be seen after a recent outburst from Kanye West.

Following the breakup, West was spotted with Kim Kardashian, while Rose spent time with Reggie Bush. Soon, Amber Rose moved through a few men and found Wiz Khalifa. Kanye West, on the other hand, has been rumored to be with several women.

Many websites have suggested Amber Rose may not be over Kanye, but she appears happy with Wiz. Simply because Kanye West is a star, most assumed he was over Rose. Being spotted with several models during Paris Fashion Week gives off that image.

Recently, Kanye West opened up about his relationship with Amber Rose. Kanye West said he had done any and everything for Rose, calling her a bitch. This rant came in a recent performance of his 2007 chart-topper, "Stronger." In the song, when he raps about a "blonde dyke," he changes the lyric to say "I did anything for that blonde dyke." While West rapped this, Amber Rose was by the stage.

Upon hearing the lyrics, Wiz Khalifa (Rose's current boyfriend) almost came to blows with Kanye West. No punches were thrown, but Wiz and Kanye did have words following the performance. Despite his personality, Kanye West has never engaged in a feud with anyone, with the exception of George W. Bush.

Condoleezza Rice to appear on NBC's "30 Rock"

Sunday, April 17, 2011

By TV Insider
JR Staff Writer

During the days of the George W. Bush administration, many would have had a hard time believing Condoleezza Rice would eventually do a sitcom. Many moves of the Bush insiders have come as surprises over the past few years. Both Rice and the other former Secretary of State, Colin Powell, loosened up on their political views.

Rice came off as stiff to many people during her time working for the Bush administration. But, in the time since she has moved away from Washington, DC, Condoleezza Rice has lightened up, joking with Tom Joyner on morning radio shows. Rice will soon be taking her act on the road, once again.

NBC's hit sitcom, "30 Rock," has been going strong for five years. The show features Tina Fey, who rose to worldwide fame in 2008 for her Sarah Palin impressions. Already having political roots, "30 Rock" has been looking for new years to attract higher ratings. During the first season, Alec Baldwin's character said he was dating a "high-ranking African-American woman in the Bush administration."

Obviously a running joke, he was referring to Condoleezza Rice. Now, Rice will guest star on the series and she has already started filming. "30 Rock" airs on Thursdays at 9:30 on NBC.

Kanye West lashes out at the Media over Britney Spears comment

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Upon returning after his hiatus, Kanye West said he had learned his lesson. Ever since he became famous, Kanye West has not been afraid to speak his mind. The Chicago rapper has called out everyone from George W. Bush to Taylor Swift.

Kanye West began his career with Roc-A-Fella Records and soon became Jay-Z's right hand man. Initially, Kanye West was one of the label's producers. Kanye West always wanted to rap and surprised the team when he released his album.

After hearing his album, Jay-Z promoted Kanye West from simply the producer to the flagship rapper. When Jay-Z retired, it was Kanye West keeping the label afloat. Because of this, Jay-Z has been trying to groom Kanye West.

When he returned to promote My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Kanye West said Jay-Z's advice finally sunk through to him and he was done causing drama. But, following the release of the album, Kanye West had comments about Britney Spears. Despite calling her out, Kanye West said he thought it was clear he was only joking.

However, the media is still holding on to his comments and Kanye West is now upset. West is tired of the treatment he gets from the media. More than anything, he is upset because everything he says is dissected by the media. Unlike others, Kanye West cannot make a simple comment because the media is going to repeat it several times. Years of this treatment has finally caught up to Kanye West and he let it all out.
