Chris Brown proud of "F.A.M.E.'s" success, collaborates with SWV

Many felt as if Chris Brown had sabotaged his career after the fight with Rihanna. Radio stations stopped playing his songs and fans lashed out. Two albums deep, Chris Brown was used to going double platinum. His 2009 effort failed to even land him a gold plaque.

Sensing he had to change things up, Chris Brown embraced his role as the bad guy. On the mixtape level, Brown released several songs. Among the songs he released was "Deuces," the one that landed him at the top of the charts. With a hit single, without trying, Chris Brown began recording a new album.

Chris Brown prepared to release F.A.M.E. early in 2011 and re-released "No BS." Along with an album version of "No BS," he also recorded "Look At Me Now," the first breakout hit from the album. Early in 2011, Chris Brown had three hit singles in radio rotation and he was far from done. In the middle of the spring, he released "She Ain't You," a Michael Jackson sample, with influences from SWV's own Jackson sample of "Human Nature."

Following the success of his album, Chris Brown spoke about how things have changed for him. Looking back on where he was and where he is now, Brown said he is proud of the success. His album has been out for five months and he has had four hits off the album, so far. While "She Ain't You" is not receiving the same type of play as his other singles, it is still receiving incredible buzz. Capitalizing off the mid-1990s sound, Brown reached out to SWV for a mash-up of their version of Jackson's sample with his.

The "She Ain't You (remix)" was released last week and features SWV.

Chris Brown certifies Gold

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

Chris Brown can truly say look at me now after the news he received yesterday. His comeback album, F.A.M.E., has officially certified gold with the RIAA. His first two albums both went double platinum and his previous album barely certified.

Brown has been through a lot over the past two years. Initially, the fans and the media loved him and his bubbly personality. Like everyone else, though, Chris Brown proved he was human. He got into a public fight with then-girlfriend, Rihanna, and his career fell apart.

The media labeled Chris Brown an abuser and he lost everything. Brown has been chastized by the media ever since. The Virginia singer saw his album being placed behind shelves in Walmart and had to get used to fans booing him. Still, he remained determined.

With everything he lost, Chris Brown continued to work, using this as his motivation. After recording two mixtapes in 2010, Brown returned with an album back in March. His singles were receiving heavy radio play and all of a sudden, he is now known as R&B's bad boy. The title became official when Chris Brown received the news he was RIAA certified, once again.

Chris Brown debuts on top with "F.A.M.E."

In the end, Chris Brown got the last laugh, despite all of the drama he has gone through with the media. Brown was once the darling of the public eye. But, his highly-publicized spat with Rihanna left him without the support of the media or the fans. There was a time, not too long ago, when radio stations refused to play his songs.

Chris Brown decided to take a step back, instead of staying in the public eye. Brown chose to record a mixtape in 2010, instead of deciding to put out another album. The mixtape included the song, "Deuces," which would become the number one single on the Billboard Hot 100. The success of "Deuces" laid the groundwork for F.A.M.E.

Following the release of "Deuces," his other mixtape single, "No Bullshit," has also become a radio hit. But, his major hit single has been his Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes-assisted "Look At Me Now." In spite of all the negative media attention he has received, Chris Brown's music has been speaking for itself. The questions he was asked on "Good Morning America" caused him to lose it, but his success makes up for it.

Brown's fourth studio album has been a major rebound from his last album. F.A.M.E. debuted at number one in the midst of stiff competition. The album has sold 271,000 copies during its first week of sales.

Chris Brown projected to sell over 270,000 copies of "F.A.M.E."

Even with all of the drama, Chris Brown does very well as the bad boy of R&B. Brown entered the game as the ultimate good guy, making music the kids could enjoy. Much of this came from him only being sixteen. But, as he got older, Chris Brown continued to cater to the young audience.

Following his high-profile fight with Rihanna, Chris Brown could no longer pull the "good guy" image off. He attempted to keep the act going, but the sales of his last album halted this. Instead of trying to release another album, Chris Brown hit the mixtape scene. His "Deuces" single introduced the world to the new Chris Brown.

In the days before his F.A.M.E. album came out, Chris Brown has watched a nude photo of him circulate the internet. After being accused of using the photo for self-promotion, Brown lashed out. Later, he was featured on "Good Morning America" and he got highly upset. With all of this going on, Chris Brown has been the center of the media's attention.

The press did not have a negative effect on his music career. F.A.M.E. is projected to sell well over 270,000 copies in its first week. Those sales match all of what 2009's Grafitti sold.

Even though he is back in radio rotation, Chris Brown has not been completely forgiven by the media for his incident with Rihanna. The couple has moved on, but certain outlets still focus on it. Brown has stated multiple times he is trying to move on with his life. Chris Brown's newest album, F.A.M.E., is about him moving on.

Only weeks before the release of F.A.M.E., a nude photo of Brown appeared online. Days later, Chris Brown discussed the photo, even sharing it on Twitter. He intended to use the photo to show one of his girlfriends. But, when she shared it online, he decided to be a good sport and play along.

While trying to be the bigger person, many people saw it as Chris Brown trying to promote his upcoming album. By the looks of the photo, it does seem as if Brown was trying to promote his album. But, with two hit singles in rotation, Chris Brown is confident in the sales of his album. Even though he continues to state he is confident, Brown will do anything to avoid the low sales of his last album.

Upset, Chris Brown spoke of his nude picture and how he was not using it for promotion. Chris Brown argued his nude pic was nothing more than a nude pic. He went on to say he is not using his body to promote his album until he does a full pornographic film, which he has no intentions of doing.

After the turn of events in his career, Chris Brown has accepted his career will never be the same. Upon entering the game, Brown was viewed by many as R&B's golden boy. But, in 2009 he revealed he makes mistakes like everyone else.

Brown has used this to his advantage, as he has revamped his career. While Chris Brown lost some fans, he has made new ones. With his F.A.M.E. album right around the corner, Brown could not ask for better results.

Recently, nude photos of Chris Brown were leaked to the internet. This is not a new experience for Brown, but it is clear the pictures are new. Not too long ago, Chris Brown unveiled his new look, bleach blonde hair. In the photos, his hair is clearly bleached blonde.

Chris Brown responds to 2009 Rihanna photos

Friday, February 25, 2011

Chris Brown paid the ultimate price for his part in a public fight with Rihanna. The two, who were physically abusive, fought in public before the Grammys in 2009. In the end, Rihanna was painted as a victim and Brown, the bully.

Four years deep in the game, Brown had been compared to a young Michael Jackson. But, after the images went public, he was compared to another Brown, Bobby. Chris Brown soon found himself unable to buy a hit.

Many of the same radio stations and websites who frequently played his music and supported him had shunned him. The same people who had given him praise were now making him the butt of several jokes. Even Walmart refused to promote his music, often hiding it in the CD section. For Chris Brown, this was all too much, so he went to the mixtape scene.

During the summer of 2010, Brown released an In My Zone mixtape and it featured the "Dueces" single, which allowed Chris Brown to vent. On the song, Brown sings of how his relationship with some woman is over. While no name is mentioned, it is obvious he was singing about Rihanna. Soon, the song gained radio play and hit the top of the charts. Chris Brown had regained his career and he started working on his fourth studio album, F.A.M.E.

With his career back on track, Chris Brown appealed to Los Angeles County to have his restraining order against him revised. Rihanna quickly agreed, but made it clear she had no interest in getting back with her ex-boyfriend. Upon discovering her comments, Chris Brown said he was done with that part of his life and he did not want to be arrested each time he and Rihanna were in the same building. The incident was a part of his life he wants to put in the past.

Brown had done just that when more images leaked to the internet of how Rihanna looked after the fight took place. Exactly two years after the incident and Chris Brown is made to look like the bad guy, once again. This time, however, Brown is not going to go down without a fight. Brown tweeted how ironic it was for 'somebody' to release these images right when he is trying to release his album. He went on to say the devil is busy, but not busy enough to keep him from doing what he is destined to do.
