Taking a break from dominating the music scene, Chris Brown is returning to the big screen. In 2005, Brown began a highly successful career in entertainment. Starting off as a singer, Chris Brown had his first major movie role before the end of 2006. With a few bumps in the road, Chris Brown has had success throughout his career.

Following a few rough years, Chris Brown put together one of the most-solid comebacks in recent history. His comeback started with his Michael Jackson tribute at the 2010 BET Awards. As fate would have it, one year later, he won several awards at the 2011 BET Awards.

Now, Chris Brown is staging a return to the big screen, starring in the film version of Steve Harvey's book, "Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man." Starring alongside Meagan Good, Michael Ealy, Kevin Hart, and other big names, Chris Brown will be amongst the stars, once again. The film will be directed by Tim Story and produced by Will Packer.

Surrounding a group of four male friends, things grow interesting when their girlfriends read Steve Harvey's book and begin to take the book by heart.

Lloyd speaks out against BET over award snub

After being released from his contract with Murder Inc., Lloyd began putting his career back together. Continuing his trend of collaborating with Lil Wayne, Lloyd performed on the "Bedrock" single with Young Money. The song received massive airplay and led to rumors of Lloyd signing with the label.

Those rumors proved to be false, as Lloyd said he was still searching for the right label situation. During the summer of 2010, it was revealed that Lloyd signed with Interscope Records. As more information was revealed, Lloyd announced he had actually signed with Polow da Don's Zone 4, Inc. label.

Lloyd went from being the lone hitmaker on a long-dead record label to being on a roster full of talent. Now, Lloyd is signed to the same label as Keri Hilson and other popular artists. Late in the summer of 2010, Lloyd released his hit single, "Lay It Down." The song became a minor hit, but did enough to reintroduce Lloyd to the mainstream.

As 2010 ended and 2011 began, Lloyd released several buzzworthy singles. However, despite his efforts, the New Orleans native was not nominated for a single BET award this year. Because of this, Lloyd has spoken out against BET and the BET Awards. Lloyd performed with a live band during the pre-show of the awards and complained on Twitter later. He was upset, saying no nomination for the kid who got Lil Wayne his first number one R&B hit.

Boasting off his "You" hit, Lloyd also said he was the first person to get Andre 3000 and Nas on a track and he felt he should have taken the stage with Patti LaBelle to perform the "Lay it Down (remix)." Lloyd went on to say the industry is a mess. Keyshia Cole was similarly upset with the BET Awards when she discovered she had not been nominated for any awards.

Chris Brown leads BET Awards nominations

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

By The Music Scoop
JR Staff Writer

One year ago, fans and critics agreed Chris Brown's career was over. When Brown arranged to perform at the 2010 BET Awards, no one predicted what would happen next. Right before the awards ceremony of 2009, the legendary Michael Jackson died. The pain of his death was still prominent one year after his death.

Before he was caught up, Chris Brown was considered by some as the next Michael Jackson. Nearly all male R&B singers who dance end up with his comparison. But, Brown's 2007 video, "Wall 2 Wall," helped these comparisons along. All of this went out of the window when Brown was labeled an abuser.

However, when Chris Brown did the tribute performance for the late Michael Jackson at the 2010 BET Awards, he won his fan base back. Following the performance, when he broke down and cried, he had an even bigger base. This was the catalyst which led to Chris Brown re-establishing himself in the game, coming back bigger than before.

What a difference a year makes with Chris Brown now leading everyone in BET Awards nominations. This year, Brown is up for 'Best Male R&B Artist,' 'Video of the Year,' 'Best Actor of the Year,' and three more nominations. Lil Wayne follows a close second with five nominations.
