Trey Songz may appear on Jay-Z's Next Album

Friday, March 5, 2010

Last year, Trey Songz made a name for himself as a force in the R&B game. With Ne-Yo and Usher deciding against releasing albums in 2009, Trey Songz had no issues taking the R&B game over. There was not a male R&B vocalist that had more airplay than Songz last year. For his work, he gained multiple comparisons to fellow Chicago singer, R. Kelly. His work did not go unnoticed by Jay-Z, who invited him to appear on his The Blueprint 3 tour.

Rarely has Trey Songz appeared on stage with Jay-Z, but the two men have gotten to know each other over the past few months. Jay-Z knows talent better than most people. From what he heard of Trey Songz, he knew that he was going to become a force in the male R&B game. Because of their newfound chemistry on stage, Jay-Z has decided to create a new group that will feature Trey Songz, among some other rappers. Later this year, Jay-Z plans to release a new album.

Each year, Jay-Z tries to release a new album, but he has missed a few years. Usually, when he records a new album, he tries to go above and beyond his previous effort. Never does Jay-Z do the same thing with each album as he is always trying to change things up. If an artist is featured on a Jay-Z album, the chances of them appearing on his follow-up are slim-to-none. Never before in his career has Jay-Z featured Trey Songz on his albums. However, he has worked with many other R&B acts, most notably, R. Kelly, Usher, and Ne-Yo. At one time or another, they have all been the top male R&B artists and Jay-Z has been the top rapper in the game for years. As long as he is recording music, Jay wants to record at least one song with all of the top male and female R&B acts.
